Conversations With Landscapes

Spurn Point as the beginning

Conversations with Landscapes is a year long residency undertaken at Spurn Point a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust supported nature reserve on the East Yorkshire Coast.by myself and Marcel Craven. A selection of works from that residency are here and for further works and sketches please refer to the residency blog.

After Vaughan Williams takes the act of listening to drawing an abstracted score to varied musical responses from artist and musicians nationally to recorded curated product as part of this residency.

On Armistice weekend 2018, 100 years since the end of WW1 I organised for our (Marcel and I’s) compositions to be played live by a string quartet in a WW1 defence tunnel at Spurn Point on the East Yorkshire Coast as part of my residency. Musicians were Rebecca Draper (viola), Rebecca Stone (cello), David Constantine (violin) and Adhel Cadle (violin) conductor and arranger Russell Plows.
